Ellie joined the Howe Lab as a neuroscience PhD student in 2019. She graduated from McGill University, Montreal, with a BA.Sc. in cognitive science and a minor in mathematics. During her undergraduate degree, she completed an honors thesis in Adrien Peyrache’s lab, where she studied the neural circuitry underlying our sense of direction. In 2018, Ellie participated in the NSF international program for the advancement of neurotechnology, studying cell morphology in a mouse model of psychiatric disorders. Currently, she is interested in how dopamine signaling shapes learning through modulation of circuits in the striatum. Beyond science, Ellie enjoys exploring new places, running, and spending time with friends.
